In 1957, Ford offered a major redesign of their full size car. It was longer and lower with improved performance options. The favorite among performance-minded buyers was the Custom 2-door model, which was the lightest. It had a 116 in wheelbase and a 312 cubic inch Thunderbird V-8 producing 245 horsepower.
The redesign lasted 3 years with minor revisions along the way. A major feature of this series was the change to perimeter frame rails that allowed for a lower interior. This Revell kit has a completely separate frame piece just like the full size car. Also included is the special “E code” engine option with dual carbs, unique camshaft and cylinder heads. It was rated at 270 horsepower.
